If incoming calls on your Onoff Business number appear as “unknown number”, “hidden number”, or “Onoff Call”, the issue is usually linked to the Onoff Calls feature.
Here’s what you need to know 👇
1. Why Onoff Calls may display “unknown number”
When Onoff Calls is enabled:
- The app syncs your contacts.
- Each contact receives a gateway number used to improve call quality.
As a result:
- If a saved contact calls you → their name appears.
- If someone not in your contacts calls you → the app may show “Onoff Business”, “Onoff Call” or “unknown number”.
- After the call, you receive a notification allowing you to save that contact.
2. Why a saved contact may still appear as “unknown”
Two common reasons:
1 The number is not saved in international format
Example:
- Incorrect → 06 XX XX XX XX
- Correct → +33 6 XX XX XX XX
Without the correct format, the caller ID may not match.
2️ Gateway numbers have changed
If you recently:
- disabled Onoff Calls,
- updated the app,
- reinstalled the app,
- changed phones,
… your contacts may have received new gateway numbers, preventing name recognition.
3. If you want to continue using Onoff Calls
Follow this clean-reset procedure:
- Disable Onoff Calls.
- Log out of the app.
- Delete the application.
- Reinstall it from the store.
- Log in again.
- Re-enable Onoff Calls.
- Enable automatic updates.
- Avoid logging out or reinstalling the app afterward.
4. Alternatives if you prefer not to use Onoff Calls
🔹 Option 1: Place calls through GSM network
(recommended for most domestic calls)
🔹 Option 2: Place calls via WiFi/4G
(useful for international calls or avoiding roaming charges)
5. Fully disable Onoff Calls and remove gateway numbers
- Open the Onoff Business app → menu ☰.
- Go to My Account > Call Settings.
- Disable Onoff Calls.
- Delete the app.
- Reinstall the app.
- Log in again.
- Allow all permissions.
- Do not re-enable Onoff Calls.
