Short numbers (3 to 6 digits, such as 3949) and special numbers (08, 09, premium-rate) don't all work with Onoff. Here is what is possible.
Emergencies: use your phone
Emergency numbers (112, 911, 999…) cannot be reached from Onoff. In an emergency, call from your phone's native dialer with your SIM card.
What works
| Number type | With Onoff |
|---|---|
| Emergency (3 digits) | No |
| 4-digit short numbers (3698, 3949…) | Yes, from the mobile app only |
| Special and premium-rate numbers (08, 09 in France) | Depends. They may use credits, even on an unlimited plan. |
| Toll-free numbers (0800…) | Depends on your Onoff number's country |
| Short numbers from another country | Usually not: your Onoff number must be from the same country as the service |
Call a short or special number
- Open the Onoff mobile app.
- Check that Call via Wi-Fi/data is on.
- Dial the number without the country code (for example 3698, not +33 3698).
If the number is reachable, the call connects. If it is charged, a credit usage notification may appear. If it can't be reached from Onoff, an error message is shown.
Credits
Keep enough credits if your teams call special numbers. Only the account Owner can buy them, from the console.
