Onoff Calls: Never Miss a Business Call Due to Bad Wi-Fi

Weak internet shouldn't mean dropped calls. If your Wi-Fi is acting up or your mobile data is unstable, Onoff Calls steps in to route your incoming business calls directly through your standard cellular network.

You get the reliability of a traditional mobile network, all while keeping your Onoff business number and categories perfectly intact.

How It Works

In the background, Onoff assigns technical routing numbers to your contacts. When a call comes in over the cellular network, this technical number bridges the gap, telling your phone exactly who is calling.

Because of this, contact permissions and synchronization must remain enabled for the feature to function.

The Eligibility Checklist

At launch, Onoff Calls is available for users who meet these criteria:

  • French SIM card required (the SIM number must be validated in the app).
  • Active Contact Sync: The app needs access to your phonebook to assign routing numbers.
  • Phonebook Size Limits: Because every contact needs a technical number, extremely large address books might exceed the system's capacity, which can disable the feature. This limit is set at 10,000 contacts.

Setup and Everyday Use

Activating the feature takes just a few taps in your settings, followed by a brief loading screen while the app prepares your contacts. Here is what to expect once you are up and running :

  • Technical Contacts: You will notice new "technical" entries in your device's phonebook. This is normal.
  • One Device Rule: Onoff Calls works on a single device at a time.
  • Changing Your SIM : You will need to re-validate your new SIM card. Until you do, calls will safely fall back to standard internet VoIP.
  • Don't Turn Off Sync: If you disable contact synchronization, Onoff Calls turns off automatically, and you will revert to VoIP.

Handling Unknown Numbers From Your Phonebook

Cellular routing for unsaved numbers can be tricky, but we have made it seamless. If an unknown number from your phonebook calls, it may initially ring as an Onoff "technical contact." However, the app immediately follows up by:

  1. Sending a push notification with the caller's actual number.
  2. Logging the real number in your recent call history.
  3. Prompting you to save the number or call back directly from the app.

Onoff Calls acts as your cellular safety net. It adds a small technical layer in the background to ensure perfect call continuity, better caller visibility, and a highly resilient mobile experience when the internet lets you down.
