When your Wi-Fi or mobile data is unstable, Onoff Calls routes your incoming business calls over the regular mobile network. You no longer miss calls, and you keep your Onoff number.
Onoff Calls uses a different technology from the GSM mode described in "VoIP and GSM: how your Onoff calls work".
Requirements
- A French SIM card, with its number validated in the app.
- Contact sync turned on.
- An address book of up to 10,000 contacts.
- One phone only: Onoff Calls works on one device at a time.
Turn on Onoff Calls
Turn the feature on in the app settings. A short loading screen follows while the app prepares your contacts.
How it works
Onoff assigns a technical number to each of your contacts. When a call comes in over the mobile network, this technical number lets your phone show who is calling. You will therefore see "technical" contacts in your phone's address book: this is normal, don't delete them.
Calls from numbers not in your address book
The call may first show as an Onoff technical contact. The app immediately sends you a notification with the real number, adds it to your history and offers to save it or call back.
What turns Onoff Calls off
| Situation | Effect | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| You turn off contact sync | Onoff Calls turns off, calls go back over the internet | Turn sync back on |
| You change SIM card | Calls go over the internet until validation | Validate the new SIM in the app |
| Your address book exceeds 10,000 contacts | The feature may turn off | Reduce the number of contacts |
Several devices
If you use Onoff on several phones, calls go first to the one where Onoff Calls is on. See "Use Onoff Business on several devices".
