Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a step when you sign in: after your password, you confirm your identity with a code. Even if someone gets your password, they cannot access your account.

When you are asked for a code

  • At every sign-in, if 2FA is enabled on your account or required by your company.
  • When signing in from a new device or browser.
  • After resetting your password.
  • If a sign-in looks unusual.
  • When you change your security settings.

Sign in with two-factor authentication

  1. Enter your email address and password, in the mobile app, web app, console or Chrome extension.
  2. Open the email from Onoff containing a 6-digit code.
  3. Enter the code and click Verify.

Backup codes

Backup codes let you sign in if you cannot access your email. Each code works only once. Keep them somewhere safe, for example in a password manager.

To use one, choose Use backup code on the verification screen.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
Code not received Check your spam folder and that your mailbox isn't full. Wait for the timer to end, then click Resend code.
"Invalid code" The code is wrong or expired. Re-enter it without spaces, or request a new one.
"Too many attempts" Stop trying and wait before trying again. The delay increases with each failure. Use a backup code if you have one.
"Session expired" You didn't enter the code in time. Sign in again with your email and password.

Still locked out? Contact your admin or email support@onoffbusiness.com with the tool used, the exact error message and the time of the attempt.

Security

Onoff will never ask you to share a verification code or backup code. If someone asks you for one, it is probably a phishing attempt.
